It’s Monday! Kicking Off Poetry Month With Some Spine Poetry #IMWAYR

We decided to kick off national poetry month by creating a spine poem of what we are reading (and plan to read) this month!  Here are some of the titles we are reading:

Spine poetry is so much fun to do!  We thought about meaning, rhythm, and white space when we created this one.  We love the shape these books created!  This a great way to celebrate poetry and love of reading with students.  We plan to have students create spine poems to make recommendations to peers for April vacation reading.  After they have time to peruse new titles by reading each other’s spine poems, students can then create their “vacation reading spine poem” for April break.

Happy Reading!

An American Marriage is thought-provoking with characters who you want to root for and make you keep hoping that things will work out for the best.

Always looking for new titles – Especially with April vacation in view! And what a “novel” (pun intended) way to display your list!

Several of these are on my TBR stack as well. I really like the idea of creating spine poetry with the TBR stack and will have to try that!

Love the idea of spine poetry! And I’ve been seeing An American Marriage pop up in all my friends’ reading lists. I am excited to read that one once we get it at our library. Thanks for sharing!

I had An American Marriage checked out from the library but no time to read it 🙁 So many books! Speaking of, I just got your new book in the mail! Looking forward to reading it!

I’m really excited for Chrissy Metz’s book. Hoping to borrow it from the library soon.

We used to do spine poetry for Poetry Month – I miss doing that now. I’ve read nothing but great reviews about The American Marriage. 🙂
