Slice of Life: Day One – This Makes No Sense — but … I’m In!

I made my decision.  I went public with my decision … and then I logged on the Two Writing Teachers website this morning.

Old friends … memories… strong feelings… a sense of community…a longing

I want to do the challenge.  I shouldn’t do the challenge.   I need to do the challenge.  It makes no sense at all for me to do the challenge.

I was having this inner dialogue when the words of my father came to me…

Clare, if it made sense all the time, then it wouldn’t be living – truly living.

I may not make it every day.  I may not respond to as many people every day.  I may lose balance in my life for this month.  It may not make any sense at all, but it will be truly living my life by slicing my life.

Bring it on — I can’t wait!!!

I am participating in the Slice of Life challenge to write and publish a post every day in March.
Slice of Life is hosted by Two Writing Teachers. I thank them for the community they provide – it means more than they may ever know. Read more slices here.

So glad you’re here! I love reading the inner doubts at play as you faced this difficult decision! I was Cathy’s inner voice this morning… but I still don’t see a post from her. I think I will share your post with her.

I love these thoughts, Clare. “I may not make it every day. I may not respond to as many people every day. I may lose balance in my life for this month. It may not make any sense at all, but it will be truly living my life by slicing my life.” THAT pretty much sums it up for me, too! Good luck, we’re there with you!!

Yay! I think not writing in March would be like not going to a month long conference and watching everyone tweet about it! Happy writing!

Clare, I love your dad’s words: “if it made sense all the time, then it wouldn’t be living – truly living.” Those are great words to live by.

I went through the same back and forth and in the end, decided I couldn’t NOT join. So glad you are here. I love your dad’s words. I am going to remember those!

Selfishly, I am so pleased you are going to be here most of the time! I read somewhere this morning that you wouldn’t be slicing this year and it made me think about really missing your words this month. So very glad to see you jump in even if it doesn’t make sense timing wise!

So excited you’re in, Clare! For whatever amount that means, I’m glad you’ll be here in the community.
What a great thought from your Dad!

Ha! I thought I read that you weren’t doing the challenge, but am hoping this post was written after that one. I wrestled with the decision too this year as my new work has me quite busy (good busy!). Deb reminded me that I had been on this journey too long and I needed this. She reminded me that I might have to deal with some messy writing along the way (but I think that has already been true). So here we go. I’m glad you are joining the conversation. We will cheer each other on this month.
